Boys soccer has had a busy October!

The Phoenix High School Varsity Boys soccer team is ranked fourth in the OSAA rankings, with an overall record of 8-2 and a League record of 6-1.

Since September, the PHS Varsity boys soccer team has won eight of their ten games, losing to Ashland and Hidden Valley. The JV team began the season with a 5-2 win at Milo Adventist Academy. Then they tied 1-1 against Brookings-Harbor.

Earlier this month, on October 5th, the Varsity team tied 1-1 with Henley. Fernando Rodriguez (14) scored the lone goal, forcing overtime. Our boys beat Henley in penalty kicks with a score of 4-2. On the 8th, the team traveled to Klamath Union and got a win with a score of 2-1. The two goals were scored by Carlos Camacho (15) and Danny Uribe (10).

Then on the 12th of October, both teams played against Hidden Valley. The Varsity team tied once again with a score of 1-1, Rosendo Flores-Juarez (9) with the goal. The boys were forced to penalty kicks for their second game in a row, but sadly ended their winning streak.

However, in their most recent game, on the 15th, both the Varsity and the JV teams played at home against North Valley. Our Varsity team got their third loss of the season with a score of 2-1, Isai Espana (6) scoring the goal. The boys are now ranked 7th in state but have one more week to bounce back up and dominate.

Our JV team beat North Valley with a score of 4-1. Not only have they been getting lots of wins but they have been fighting hard and had an amazing season, their last two games are on the same days as Varsity, so go and support our boys on the 19th of October at Mazama. Also the very last game of the season – and senior night – is on October 22 against Henley at 4:30pm. Come out and support our seniors in their last game!
