Attention all juniors and their parents, the start to finding the right college for your son or daughter is a go. Do not worry if you are confused, or feel as if you don’t have a clue where to begin. Phoenix High School is holding an event to explain all the possible options to help everybody get started. It is extremely important that all juniors and parents attend Junior College Night if college is something that interests you for your future.

Essentially, throughout the night Ms. House and the other members of Phoenix High School’s future planning center will provide steps that current juniors will need to take to prepare for senior year. One factor that may stir up some discussion will be what types of colleges are available (mainly for Oregon). Another subject that will be addressed will be how the student can find the right college for them. Sometimes, the location and/or the community is a big issue for students looking to go to a particular college, and it is beneficial to all those involved for them to find the perfect one. Lastly, information on scholarships and financial aid will be provided, as it tends to be a significant factor.

It is quite difficult to arrive at one’s senior year with absolutely no plans on what to do for college. As such, it is essential for all junior’s and their parents to attend as the event will help secure student’s future — this way, no one will be behind on something so vital. This night is also a good way to know when to take SATs and/or ACTs. If a junior takes their SATs before senior year, then they will have a chance to retake it and score higher during senior year before they apply to a college. Junior College Night is a great reminder that many students should start researching colleges that appeal to them. If anyone is not sure how to go about researching a college, the presenters will give advice specifically for that.

The event will be held on Tuesday, April 24th at 6:00 p.m. The presentations will be offered in both English and Spanish for students and parents. It will be held in the commons, so there will be plenty of tables and seating room for families. Since the office entrance and the main entrance near the commons will be opened before 6:00 p.m., feel free to show up a little early at your discretion.

Good luck to all juniors and their families, for college is right around the corner. When senior year hits, time will fly by and before you know it, there won’t be much time left to think about college. In fact, early bird applications for colleges usually start in the beginning of senior year. This is why Junior College Night is held at the time that it is. We hope to see you there!
