IMG_1282On Wednesday, December 2nd, the undaunted Phoenix High School Girls Basketball team traveled to Ashland to play against the Grizzlies. This is the girls’ first games of the season, but unfortunately all three teams lost their games.

IMG_1178Firstly, the JV2 team lost their game with a score of 10 to 36. Giselle Hernandez made the first basket of the game and Julissa Villasenor scored the last.

Following that, the JV girls team lost against the Grizzlies, starting the season with a score of 6 to 49. The girls worked hard together, but unfortunately fell short.

In the last girls game of the day, the Varsity team cornered Ashland High, but ultimately fell to the Grizzlies.

Most of the action for the Phoenix Varsity team was during the second and third quarter of their game. In the final quarter of the game, the team was able to get two more points, ending the game.

Finally, the Varsity team lost with a score of 29 to 49. Although Wednesday was a rough start to the new season, the teams are hoping to continue to develop their skills as individuals and as a team.

“I am excited to see the relationships that I will build with my teammates and to see how we improve throughout the season,” said Guillermina Rodriguez, a player from the Varsity girls team.

The girls’ next game is tomorrow, December 5th, at Phoenix High School. The JV2 game starts at 12:30, JV at 2:00, and Varsity at 3:30. Come out and support our teams!
