Honoring PHS students

Every year, PHS students are a remarkable help around the community. During the past few years students have been recognized for their service and are rewarded with a certificate and a pin for their graduation gowns. This year we would like to congratulate all the students who actively participate in community service projects.

On Monday, January 11th, an assembly was held where all students who have been engaged in community service were recognized in categories from bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. Each category represents a different amount of hours that students willingly donated their time. Students who completed ten to nineteen hours got awarded with Bronze; Silver was handed out to students who finished twenty to twenty nine hours; students who have fulfilled thirty to forty nine hours received the Gold Award; and finally students who executed fifty hours or more were presented with the Platinum Award.   

Students are given a form to fill out and describe the community service they have been involved in and how many hours they have completed. Then Mrs. Hale, our principal, looks over all the applications and makes calls to confirm that the students have done the community work and completed the hours they have said. Then students are put in the category that matches the hours they have completed like bronze, silver, gold, or platinum.
