This is Phoenix High School first year ever to have a tennis team. The tennis team is an all girls team coached by Guy Tauer, this is his first year coaching as well as the first year for the girls to be on a tennis team. Practices take place at Bear Creek Park from 4-6pm Monday through Friday. The girls competed in two games, they have played Canyonville Christian Academy and Henley. They  lost against Canyonville on Tuesday the 12th of April , but came up with 3 wins against Henley on Wednesday the 20th of April. They will be competing this Saturday the 30th of April at Hidden Valley and on Wednesday the 4th of May against the Klamath Union. Come support the phoenix high school tennis team during their games. The team will be competing at districts for the first year.

Track is having an amazing season this year, just like all their past seasons. Carolena Campbell, one of the track coaches, said that “both the boys and girls long distance teams are doing really good and we have freshman competing at a senior level.” Many of the track members have broken school records this year. In the 200 meters both Zach Atteberry and Zach Robinson broke school records. In the 400 meters Jacob Bergern broke a record, also in the 800 meter Leif Amundsen and Parker Cook broke a record. The girls have also broken school records, in the 100 meters Emonie Snowton, Taylor Cortell, Jestyna Mostler, Amelis Volk and Sofia Tringolo all broke school records. Other records that were broken were in the 400 meter by Danielle Jantzer, Shayla Potratz, Taylor Cortell and Jestyna Mostler and in the 800 meter Danielle Jantzer, Britteney Manahan,  Audrey Hazel and Viviane Tauer. The track team is doing a fantastic job and will continue to do a great job.

IMG_1736The girls golf team has practiced from 4-6pm everyday .The team has been doing an amazing job this season. Their coach Lana Engle says that “they’re doing awesome”. The girls just finished their last tournament, what follows next is regionals. Regionals will have twenty five schools participating so it’ll take place next Thursday and Friday. Five girls will be competing and will be playing 18 holes each day. At the end they will combine all the team scores and the lowest score will win. The girls have made a big improvement from the beginning of the season, Let’s hope the girls continue to improve as the season continues. The Guys Golf has also been doing a good job, they had a tournament last weekend where they did a great job. We were unable to acquire any further information on the boys, but are confident that they too are having a good season.
