Rosendo Juarez

Our soccer boys have had quite the season this year. With many victories and very few losses, we will be looking forward to see what they have in store for next year. Unfortunately, we will be saying goodbye to many of our seniors as they are off to bigger and better things. One senior includes Rosendo Juarez, who was a varsity captain. He has played all four years of soccer here at PHS, three of which were varsity. Juarez has played much longer than that, in fact he says, “I’ve been playing soccer my whole life… ever since I could run and walk.” When asked where his passion came from, his response was simple, “my dad was a big fan of soccer… he passed it to me.”

Rosendo was not the first in his family to play soccer for Phoenix. Zeke Flores, his older brother, was a huge role model for our future soccer pirates.  But that’s not all, his two older sisters, Cristo Juarez-Flores and Andreina Flores,  also played  with the lady pirates. With inspirations such as his dad, brother, and sisters,  there’s no wonder to why Rosendo can play the way he does. His family was sure to attend every home game and even some away games. Lets not forget about Nataly Vela, his niece, also known as his number one fan, was at every event. With support like that, an athlete is bound to play their very best.

Juarez will be attending Rogue Community College in the fall of this year. He plans to continue “playing soccer in the future and hopefully in college.” One thing is for certain, he will to continue to amaze us on any field.

“And maybe make it big, with hard work and dedication, I know I can do it.” -Rosendo ‘Piso’ Juarez  #10
