The girls’ basketball season will soon be coming to an end and the girls have been doing a great job this season. Despite having some losses, the girls have also had some great victories. The girls have played a total of nineteen games, out of which they have won seven. The team has been playing really well. They are learning and improving as a team.

The season started November 16th, but their first game was played on December 2nd. Their first game was against Ashland. Unfortunately the girls were defeated with a score of 29-42. In their second game the girls faced Siuslaw where they put up one heck of a fight but fell short with a score of 31-45. Then they played against Lakeview but were once again unsuccessful in the game and lost with a score of 34-35. The girls also played St. Mary’s, where they played their best until the end but lost by ten points, with the score of 42-52.

The first game won by the girls was on December 18th when they played against South Umpqua. The finishing score was 38-26. They then went on to play Eagle Point where they were unlucky and lost with a score of 46-57. After that game they played against Cascade Christian and took the win with an impressive score of 46-22. Then the girls played against Nyssa. Unfortunately they fell short with a score of 21-51. Gold Beach was the school they played next, and in this game the girls came out on top and won with a score of 41-36. Unfortunately, they lost against Brookings-Harbor with a score of 34-67. Their next three games against Cascade Christian, Siuslaw and South Umpqua were all won with the scores of 48-42, 51-47 and 56-36.The girls would go on to lose their next five games which were played against: North Valley, Henley, Klamath Union, Mazama, and Hidden Valley. It wasn’t until they played North Valley once again that they were triumphant and won with a close score of 45-44. The team’s most recent game took place at Phoenix High against Henley; they fought hard until the very last second but unfortunately fell short and lost with a score of 40-93.

The girls will have two more games before the season is over. The first one will be an away game against Mazama. The second and last one of the season will take place here at PHS on Friday, February 12, against Hidden Valley. Be sure to come out and support the ladies as they finish their season.
