Boundless Baseball

This year the Phoenix High School’s baseball team is shooting high for the skies! Their goals are boundless, their strength is impressive, and their determination is persistent. Coach Bill Hutchinson leads the team as they press on to win their last two games with Klamath Union. Before they compete in their final games, it’s a perfect time to review how the season went.

The baseball team did very well this spring. At the beginning of their league games, the team crushed North Valley with a score of 12-2. A few games later they won two games in a row on April 14th and 18th against North Valley and Mazama respectively. The baseball pirates then went to claim victory against Henley at an away game on April 27th, scoring 10-7. With these wins (including others) the Phoenix baseball team has a win rate of 55.6%. Good job pirates!

Like every year, Phoenix is sad to see our seniors leave. This year PHS baseball will be saying goodbye to some amazing players including, Micah Dungey, Samuel Datz, Thomas Skaff, and James Turnbull. They had led the team through an outstanding season and left them with even bigger goals for next year.

James Turnbull, however, has been playing baseball since he was 5 years old. Since then he has pushed himself to succeed in the sport. Hard work has definitely paid off for him because he has received a scholarship from Simpson University where he will continue playing baseball. We wish him the best of luck fulfilling his career.

All in all, spring has brought many victories for the Phoenix baseball team. May we wish them luck as they venture on their journey to win against Henley and Klamath Union. Their regular season will end this week with a game at Colver Field in Phoenix on May 11th. Be sure to come and support your pirate boys.
