December 11th, 2015

By Sandra Hernandez, Meddie Lozano, and Courtney Baker

This upcoming Tuesday, December 15, the Winter Choir Concert takes place here at Phoenix High School. The concert will be held in the Rose Street Theater with a start time of 6:30pm. Our choir here at the school have been working hard on new songs to perform for this year’s concert. Pam Nordquist, the choir teacher, revealed information about this upcoming event: “It will be a holiday concert that will feature many favorites, holiday favorites, seasonal favorites, beautiful music, new things things that people haven’t heard before, classics, and even a little bit of a sing-along.”

Nordquist showed the confidence she holds in her choir students by saying, “Rehearsals are going great. The kids are learning a lot of music really fast and doing a great job with it. We are really excited to share with the public and the student body the kinds of music we are doing in the choir department this year.”

While Nordquist does select all the music her students perform, she lets her students give input on some song choices. Nordquist strives to pick favorites that are still appropriate enough for all audiences. She says, “The audience should expect a wonderful, very short, but a wonderful concert of great holiday music and seasonal music that they’re going to really enjoy.” All students are encouraged consider joining choir for the new semester, especially manly men!”
