We All Dream in Gold, The Oscars

Every year, students have the capability to earn an Oscar at the end of the school year to show their hard work and dedication they put into the program. An Oscar is an award used to recognize cinematic achievements in the United States film industry. The award given at Phoenix High School shares the same meaning in recognizing student excellence in the classroom. This year, Phoenix High School has the pleasure to announce the  12th annual Oscar nominees for 2016.

The categories range from each level of the media programs offered at Phoenix High School to encourage excellence from the beginning of a student’s high school career.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award is an award given to a student that has overcome adversity or challenges in their life and inspired others with their commitment to the ICT program.

The nominees are chosen every year by Mr. Rhoades and a team of judges made up of local area experts in the field of media. The judges for the 2016 nominations are:

  • Juliet Long; chair of RCC’s computer sciences and emerging digital media program
  • Charles Douglas and Brandon Givens; directors and producers of RVTV at SOU
  • Chris Leone; sports reporter and editor for KDRV
  • Mike Gantenbein; creative services director for KTVL
