On February 25th, the Phoenix High School’s Brain Bowl went to a competition at SOU and had a huge success. Three teams went to compete at the Regional Brain Bowl Tournament.

The Varsity team had Lucas Stella as their captain and he was joined by Brigham Blundell, Evan Schweikert, Noah Thompson, and David Teague. This team also won all five of its matches and are going to the finals against Eagle Point which will be on SOPTV this April. The other teams included two JV teams. On the JV Blue team there was Nicoletta Dinelli as the captain, Aishwarya Vellanki and Priscila Espana and this team was the runner up in their division and won the sportsmanship award. The JV Red team had Sophia Tringolo as their captain, Austin Vos, and Brook Gabor.

How brain bowl prepares for competitions is that they meet up at lunch in Mr. Gullo’s classroom and practice trivia questions, compete with each other and continue to practice until they feel like they are prepared for the next upcoming event.

Brain Bowl has some upcoming events like finals that are happening April 9th with Eagle Point at the SOPTV studio. Mr. Gullo and Mr. Janousek are sending the students who won all five of its matches at SOU back in February. Good luck to Brigham, Evan, Noah, David, and Lucas in the finals. The students who are participating in the finals are working hard to make sure that they may win in the finals

The Brain Bowl team has been practicing and working hard to make sure that they are ready for their final competition in April so whenever you see the five students who are going to the finals, make sure to wish them luck for when the time comes.
