The Brain Of The Bowls

Brain Bowl is a club here at Phoenix High School. This club provides students with a chance to participate in trivia competitions with fellow students to compete with other schools. Students exercise their brains with relevant and random trivia questions while learning about the world around them. The questions can have a variety of topics such as social studies, geography, math, literature, language arts, history, science, art, and even current events; but don’t let that scare you, it’s a fun way to challenge yourself!

This fun club is an academic competition where teams get pitted against each other. Teams can consist of up to six people, but only four will play at a time. A moderator will read a question from one of the subjects; which all will be equally represented. There is a buzzer system to see who answers the questions first. The team who can get the most points in the end will be the winners.

For those students who wish to join, you just show up to the meetings. All students are welcome to this club. They meet every Wednesday at lunch in Mr. Gullo’s room (N419). There are approximately sixteen students in the club.  These students will split into a Junior and Varsity team with additional students that are ready to step in as alternates. “Brain bowl is both entertaining, informational, and fun” Mr. Gullo says.

Brain Bowl will do mock competitions throughout the year going up against other groups. They also have a SOU competition that will take place in late February. The winning team of the regional competition will have a chance to represent the Southern Oregon region in the national competition.

If you are interested in joining this club don’t hesitate because it is a great way to have fun while competing against others. Brain Bowl is a great club overall, you get to learn so much in the process and you would have the chance to hang out with really great people. We wish this club the best of luck throughout the year! Go try your hardest to win and have fun!
