New ASB Officers

Every year a few students sign up and send their applications to see if they qualify to run for an ASB position here at Phoenix High School. These students create speeches in order to convince their fellow peers on why they deserve to have that ASB position. Students that end up as an ASB will go to all advisor rep meetings and help students and staff in any way they are needed. ASB stands Associated Student Body and they represent the goals and interests of the students.

Nathaniel Morales is currently a sophomore and will be the ASB president for the years of 2017-2018, at Phoenix High School. Nate’s quite excited about the position and happy to be able to make a school a better place. Nate’s plans for being president include being able to increase organization around the school and having good communication between students and staff without any struggle. Nate also wants to have a lot more school spirit. Another goal of his is to be able to fix school activities in other for multiple grade levels to enjoy them. What interested Nate into running as ASB president was because the year before Nate was ASB treasurer and worked by the other ASB officers. “By working with the President and Vice president I was able to see what they did, and I wanted the chance to do what they did.”

Next year’s vice president will be Justice Williams who is currently a junior this year. Justice ran for vice president due to her interest in student government and being able to make this school a great place. Justice is the type of person that “will not lead you in a senior prank, or who will skip a class with you.” Justice wants to help this school and change it for the better with the other ASB officers helping. She wants to avoid having Phoenix as a sinking ship and everyone’s abandoned ship, she wants Phoenix to stay as a place where students can learn and be comfortable with other students.

Karli Farrimond is a freshman and is  ASB treasurer for the years of 2017-2018, at Phoenix High School. Karli wanted to become treasurer in order to help handling the funds and redirecting the usage of the money to help out the students of Phoenix. She want’s to be able to make sure that everyone’s voices are heard. Karli wants to work with the other ASB representatives in order make everyone’s voices heard because as she stated, “we care about your opinion.” Karli wants to make Phoenix a better place to all.

At the moment of writing this article we have two students that are running for ASB secretary for the years of 2017-2018. Those two students are Jackeline Rodriguez and Brandon Morrison who are both freshman.

Jackeline Rodriguez is not your typical kind of person that lists of a thousand reasons on why you should vote for her. She won’t tell you how she is perfect because she is human and “makes mistakes like everyone else.” The reason why Jackeline is running for secretary is to be the voice for those that don’t have one. Jackeline knows how it feels to scramble around and be “handed L’s and bounce back the next day.”

Brandon Morrison is the second student running as secretary. Brandon like many other students sees “the high and low moments,” and wants to run in order to increase the high moments and decrease the low moments. Brandon wants to do anything in order to make this school a better place to all the students and make this school much stronger at the end. Brandon wants to help Phoenix have a better future.

At the end of all of this our new ASB secretary for the following year of 2017-2018 is Brandon Morrison. Congratulations on the win on becoming ASB secretary.

Congratulations to all the students that have won their seats as our new ASB officers for the following year of 2017-2018. Can’t wait to see all the great things that you will be doing next year in order to help the school becomes a better place to all the students that call Phoenix High School home.
