Phoenix High School thespian awards night will be held on Thursday the 26th here at the Phoenix High School Rose Street Theater. The thespian awards nights is a night to honor the students involved in theater arts. The night will consist of honoring seniors, giving awards, inducting students and presenting new officers. They will also be having a special guest speaker named James Peck. He helped the theater program with choreography, leads a workshop and was an actor for Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Theater members will be nominating other members for the most improved performer, most outgoing/positive and most notably promising. They will also vote on other categories and will announce the winners that night.

In the Robin Hood play Isaac Bergstrom, Chapman Kuykendall,Kim Kinney, Taran McGuire and Kyle Cottrell are nominated for the award for best actor. Isaac played Robin Hood, Chapman as Will Scarlet, Kim as Sheriff of Nottingham, Taran as Prince Jon/ Little Jon and Kyle as Friar Truck. Nominees for Best Actress are Yasmin Conchas as Marian, Autumn Forsyth as Marian’s mom, Sofia Tringalo as Munch and Hayley Harrison as Muso. There is also an award for best stage fighter; the nominees for this award include Isaac Bergstrom, Taran McGuire, Kim Kinney, Yasmin Conchas and Sofia Tringalo. For the best techie award, the nominees are Emilio Gutierrez (stage manager), Bailie Brown (assistant stage manager), Arilyn Quakenbush (assistant stage manager), Kyle Roberts (light operator), Jonathan Knowels (sound operator) and Sophie Stricker (costumer). There will also be an award where the theater members will nominate a best supporting actor. May the odds be ever in their favor.

For the Grease play Bryce Kauffman as Danny Zuko, Lorenzo Ortiz as Kenickie, Chapman Kuyekendall as Doody, Kim Kinney as Roger, Trevor Ulrich as Sonny and Taran McGuire as Eugene are all nominees for best leading actor. The nominees for best lead female are Ruby Moser as Sandy Dumbrowski, Sophie Stricker as Betty Rizzo, Miriam Arias as Frenchy, Autumn Forsyth as Jan, Ana Parra as Marty, Bailie Brown as Patty and Megan Forsyth as Cha Cha. There is also an award for best male ensemble, Emilio Gutierrez, Jordan Grace, Finn Eibner and Quentin Jean. The girls nominated for best female ensemble are Kathryn Zentgraf, Meddie Lozano, Hayley Harrison, Yasmin Conchas and Megan Forsyth. In the award for best pit member, Sam Datz on saxophone, Brogan Guthrie on electric guitar Geo Betus on bass guitar and Brandon Johnson on drums. Nominees for best techie are Kaycee Parker (stage manager) Arilyn Quackenbush (assistant stage manager), Samantha Kamrath (assistant stage manager), Bailie, Cory (Sound Operator), Bryce Crawford (light operator), Kyle Roberts (Light Operator) and Shaun Felder (light operator). Members of the theater will also nominate other members for best male & female dancer and  best male & female singer.
