With the school year underway, Phoenix leadership is back and hard at work, Except this time with a new captain leading the way! Ms Robin in her first year teaching at Phoenix high school has assumed the role of the school’s Leadership teacher. And things have been rolling smoothly ever since she assumed the role! The leadership team this year has already put on two Assemblies, the homecoming parade, as well as food drives and a coats for kids drive to name a few of the things they have accomplished. Everything seems to be going great for Leadership as Ms Robin stated that she is “happy to be working with a fantastic team of leadership students and that they continue to impress her with their hard work and their dedication”. She also made note that one of the highlights of the year for her and the leadership team was seeing how successful the Christmas giving tree was and how all of the children received everything they asked for! “We had done some great work” she said.

Leadership is not slowing down at all as we get close to the second semester! Leadership will be working on hosting prom, putting on a third spirit week and assembly relating to prom, while also preparing to visit Talent middle school to help prepare incoming eighth graders for their transition to high school! The leadership team will also be leaving for Beaverton to attend a leadership conference that focuses on Improving school climate as well as School spirit, and finally Leadership will be doing lots and lots of fundraisers as always! So all in all it will be a very busy second semester for The Pirate leadership team!

Finally, with a new leadership teacher at Phoenix also comes new goals and expectations for the Leadership team. Ms Robin made it clear that she wants herself and the Leadership team to continue to do things such as. Continuing to improve student engagement, in terms of engagement in attending classes, Athletic events, and overall school spirit. She also stated that it will be a goal of  hers  to give all students here at Phoenix High School as many opportunities as possible to “ participate as a positive, giving member of the community”. So far the Leadership team is accomplishing those goals, and living up to the expectations. As a new semester dawns on Phoenix high school, the Leadership team works hard to continue to make Phoenix high school the best school it can be for their fellow classmates. It truly is a great day to be a pirate!
