Marching band

Phoenix Marching Band practices on Tuesdays from 4-6 pm, Thursdays from 6-9 pm, and Saturdays 8am to 1pm. Their audience can clearly tell that their practice pays off every time they perform at competitions, football games, assemblies and occasionally parades. The Marching Band really knows how to bring life to all the events they play in. They create excitement by being loud and proud everywhere they go! The school is very lucky to have such an amazing band that looks great and always puts on a great performance.

Their most recent competition was on Saturday the 17th, and they placed 3rd in their division, while the high woodwinds and color guard both placed 1st place in their division. Over the summer and during the fall months the band practice on a field show, an intricate presentation complete with music and marching which is to be shown in competitions and halftime shows. They are also the pep band you hear cheering on our team and pumping up our student section at football and basketball games!

Their next competition will be held November 7th. Brogan Guthrie, a member of the marching band, was asked how he thought the band would do at their next competition. He responded with, “I think we’re going to do really well, we’ve added a few new things to the show so it should be really really cool.” Hannah Teague was asked  what she liked most about marching band and her answer was, “Seeing the outcome of it all and all the work you put in, just seeing how every little piece just adds up to the final product.”

Be sure to give the marching band an extra round of applause when they perform at tonight’s football game. Sporting events really wouldn’t be the same without the presence of our wonderful marching band!
