With the beginning of the new year we are giving a new landscape to do whatever we can do. Many objectives or goals that can be done is all dependent of the person and what they plan to accomplish. One student thought that has taken their step into the new year is Justice Williams and her participation in the Miss Rogue Valley pageant.

Justice Williams is a senior here at Phoenix. You may remember Miss Justice last year for her participation in the Miss Rogue Valley pageant, and her toiletry donation program. Well this year, Justice will be running for the crown for the second time and having the toiletries drive run for a second chance as well. Last year, Justice Williams was in the top four contestants for the Miss Rogue Valley Outstanding Teen.

The Miss Rogue Valley provides opportunities and scholarships for young lady’s who wants to share their voices about cultures, politics or just helping the community in general. The Scholarships Miss Rogue Valley provides gives young ladies a boost to go to college to pursue their future career. It’s also a step to the much larger pageants such as Miss America and Miss Universe. Justice decided to join the Miss Rogue Valley pageant because “it was so much fun, and you get to meet these amazing women also participating. This will be Justice last year participating in the pageant because next year she won’t be in the valley, but will be looking for pageants that will take place near the college that’ll she be attending. She joined the Miss Rogue Valley for “the opportunities that it gives such as being able to speak to large crowds and having interview skills,’’ which will be a great necessity in her future career which will be the medical field.

With the participation of the Miss Rogue Valley pageant contestants are required to have a community activity or drive. Has you may have noticed Justice has started the toiletries drive. The toiletries donated from january till the end of february will be heading to the Maslow Project. The Maslow Project is an organization that helps homeless youth and families in need here in Rogue Valley. The Maslow Project has many resources that really give students a chance to go over hard life skills. Maslow Project has been able to help Justice with getting certain supplies that she has needed, but also has been helping pay school debts and even letting her participate in Cross Country “even though it was totally not my thing.” With all the help of the Maslow Project, Justice would like to return the help while she’s still living here in the valley.

Justice Williams is one out of many that will help the future extend and become greater than what it is today. You can help with that by donating to the toiletries drive at Phoenix High School helping her and the Maslow Project. Donations that are accepted are hygiene products such as toothbrushes, deodorants and more. The donation bin can be found in the front office with the Maslow sign on it. Good luck at the pageant Justice, don’t forget to go cheer her on February 24th at the North Medford High School theater.
