For the 2017-2018 school year, Phoenix High School welcomes the incoming freshmen and brand new students to our school. This school has a bunch to offer for its students such as clubs, activities, and more.

Activities here at PHS include band, choir, speech and debate, theater, sports, and several clubs and many other activities. The school has a lot to offer to all of the students and almost everyone is included in something.

There are some classes that have activities.Band and choral classes are both music classes but one involves musical instruments while the other involves singing. Both classes are well taught by Andrew Brock, the choir director, and Mike DeRoest the band director. A few times every year, each class will have concerts to show off their hard work. There is also Speech and Debate. While this is a class you can take here at PHS, it is also a club. Students can go out and do competition and debate about something or give speeches. The class and club is run by Clint Roderick.

Theatre is another one students can join. Every year Mrs. Brown, the theatre director, puts on two plays, one in the fall and one in the spring. The one in fall is a regular well known play and in the spring there is a musical. This year in the fall we did “The 39 Steps” and in spring we did “In The Heights.” There is a theatre class here at PHS but keep this in mind, you don’t have to be in the class to be in plays. The is also sports. There are several sports that students do throughout the year.

On one day after school has started, we have a day where students can sign up for clubs. There are several clubs here at PHS that happen on certain days of the week throughout the year.

There’s the impact club where people can meet and talk about Jesus. Gamers club where people can play video games , the Outdoor Club where students can take a day and go take hikes and be outdoors. ASL (American Sign Language) club where you can learn sign language. There is also Ultimate Frisbee club where you can play ultimate Frisbee. FFA is another one that students can join. The club is a part of the  agricultural education program, along with many other clubs here at Phoenix High School.

As you can see, there is a lot going on at PHS with what students can do in there spare time. When the new freshmen join us, they’ll have all of these opportunities. If they join a club, lets hope they they stay in the club and make it even greater. Or they can even make their own club if they want to. Of course, welcome freshmen and new students to Phoenix High School for next school year.
