    It’s that time of the year again for the Phoenix High School mandatory spring conferences. These conferences are student led, where students take the led and demonstrate to their parents accomplishments and goals that they have surpassed this year and showing that they are on the track to their graduation. Not only that but it’s a time where parents can meet the teachers that have spent the majority of the school year teaching, aside from that parents are also given the chance to ask questions about their kids. During conferences students will be taking a large variety of colorful papers that they have received and have been filled out from the past year. In addition to that students will be able to show their parents an official transcript of the grades received form past years or even just the grades of a single year. A final requirement that students will need to show is a best work. This can be an amazing piece of art from Ms. Rollins classes, to an essay from Mrs. Johnson’s class or that A+ on one of Mr. Rodreick’s quizzes. Now who has to attend these spring conferences.

    As many of you may recall in November we had the fall student led conferences here at Phoenix. These past conferences was only required to the freshmen and senior classes. Most importantly with seniors in order to make sure that they were on track for graduation and if not to begin helping them to get back on track. This time around the only classes that are required to show up are the freshmen again, sophomores and the junior classes. If you are a part of these classes then you are required to show up in order to receive advisory credit which is a graduation requirement to all students. Spring conferences will be taking place on Thursday April 19th from 8am to 8pm. With school resuming on the Friday after.

    A small piece of advice to all track and field athletes. There is a meet on the exact same day as conferences with departure being around noon. So if you are a track and field athlete, please talk to your advisor on scheduling earlier that day in order to be able to catch the bus for the track meet. Another planned event that will be happening the same day for juniors and senior is a chance to retrieve credit. Mrs Pond from 9am to 12pm will be helping juniors and senior with credit retrieval. This is highly important to senior because students need all their credits in order to be able to walk on graduation. If you would like to come during these hours for credit retrieval or have any questions please see Mrs. Pond in room N105, right next to Mr. Shipleys health room.

   In the end, conferences are around the corner and there is absolutely no way to avoid them now. Just remember one thing, you’re in charge of the conference so show yourself off to your parent. Show that you are the best around. Overall good luck to everyone, the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors on the spring student led conferences this coming Thursday April 19th, from 8am to 8pm.
