Come along the trail to the outdoors and get an insight of the Outdoor Club. Phoenix High School offers many varieties of clubs to all its students and one of those clubs is the Outdoor club. The Outdoor club is for all students who love to explore the outdoors or just want to get in touch with their nature side. Our very own Mr. Campagna is the club director, the brains to all the planing with the help of the students in the club.

Outdoor club first began last year in the fall with the help of a few willing and devoted students who had an interest of the outdoors like Mr. Campagna. “It would be a great club that our school is missing and a great thing students could bond over” said Mr. Campagna when he thought of the club.  They later began their first trip to hike Grizzly Peak, hoping it could be something the club could bond on. ‘From there they began planning out more trips like going rafting, mountain biking, skiing, and sledding.

Outdoor club doesn’t require you to have a commitment to the club, it is open to anyone who is interested. The club meetings are every second Thursday of the month, where they meet up to discuss their next trip, times and to figure out rides to ensure everyone to get there. The clubs next adventure will be the first weekend of December still to be determined, they will be having a trip to go sledding after Christmas break.

Some other activities they have plan and hope to be doing are downhill skiing, or cross country skiing. in January. They plan on going to Mt. Ashland to do some downhill sledding, snowboarding, or skiing. For the spring they hope to mountain bike once again, go to the Oregon caves and for the summer times go rafting. The Grizzly Peak will now be an annual hiking trip for the club every year.

If you are interested in joining the Outdoor club come by and see Mr. Campagna for more information. If you are interested in doing all of the trips or just even one of the trips come by everyone is welcome to join.
