Do you want to donate to a great cause? Well you can! This year at PHS, Naomi Hernandez is hosting a fundraiser for the Family Nurturing Center and it’s a clothing and diaper drive for babies. She is doing this for her senior project.

 

First, let’s start off with what is the Family Nurturing Center? “The Family Nurturing Center is a community based non-profit child abuse or neglect prevention and intervention program serving high-risk families with children under the age of six. FNC is making a difference in the lives of children and families by providing a blend of intensive support and interventions to break the patterns of abuse and neglect. The FNC focuses on the needs of children, their parents and the family as a unit by offering supportive services to keep children and families together.”

 

We asked Naomi a few questions to find out more about this baby clothes and diaper drive at PHS. We asked her, why are you doing this fundraiser? She responded with “Just to support families around the valley.” We also asked Naomi, where can someone donate? “If you donate, you can donate to the Family Nurturing Center” Naomi added. Then we asked her, How did you start your charity fundraiser, Who did you talk to, to start it? Also, how long will it be going till? She said, She talked to Mrs. Seedborg who helped her get in contact with The Family Nurturing Center. Then she added, She started it the 1st and it will be going till the 14th of December.

 

This is Naomi’s senior project, her senior project has to show what she has learned throughout her twelve years of school. She has to complete 30 hours of work outside of school and produce an 8-10 minute presentation to present in front of educators and community panel to demonstrate her knowledge, her research and her work. She also has to have an adult mentor and the mentor has to be a professional in the field. Also, relatives and PHS teachers cannot be mentors, only under certain circumstances they can.

 

The clothing and diaper drive is a great cause and you should donate if you can. Also, keep showing that pride, Pirates!
