Are you into dark comedies, a bit of romance and lots of death? Well this is the play for you! Phoenix High School’s fall play Arsenic and Old Lace was recently showcased. The play is about two aunts who poison old men and their 3 nephews find out, and chaos ensues. This play was directed by our new theater director and advisor for the Phoenix High theater, Kevin Monk.

Kevin Monk is the newest Phoenix High School theater director. He joined the Phoenix Pirates as the theater director because he loves theater and is “interested in keeping the theater program going.” So far, his time at Phoenix High School has been “very busy because we’ve been trying to get a show going within a month and a half.” He chose the play Arsenic and Old Lace because “ once I met the staff, I could tell that they enjoyed dark comedies. And this show is a classic.” His hopes for the theater program is to have it “continue to grow so that students have an outlet to be involved in theater.”

If you went to the play you might have recognized some familiar faces. The play’s actors are all students that attend Phoenix High School. You can check down below to see the entire cast and who they played in Arsenic and Old Lace and also see who worked behind the lights.

With that, congratulations to the Phoenix High School theater club for completing their first play this year. If you missed this lovely production, no worries theater will play its show a last time tonight at 7pm and their matinee on Saturday at 2pm. Arsenic and Old Lace isn’t their final play so be on the lookout for more phenomenal shows being put by the Phoenix High School’s theater club.
